LIGHTHOUSE HEADQUARTER
After two years of constant hard work with many different poor accomodations and open-air events, our NGO, Lighthouse of Paterson has finally got a "house"! (provided by the government) - or more precisely a derelict.
BUT: after all, a place, a site where people can come to when they need help. With combined forces and people of our townships the first progresses have been made. The first time clearing the dung out, building a roof over our heads (Biggest thank you to Math from Holland, who supports us active with his skill set and financially!) and meager painting the walls. " the main point is that we can start" as our chairman Kelvin Kamp said. Now there still have to be acquired some desks and chairs, cupboards and locks to safely store our commodity contributions and beds for the night for Patersons waifs and strays where they can at least stay safely temporary over night.
All beginnings are difficult but at least it's a beginning.
SUCCESSFUL PROJECT
LIGHTHOUSE CHARITY GAME
On the 15th of June our annual charity game has taken place in Jois, Burgenland Austria. This time FC Hill "Leo Hillinger's celebrity team" played against our national public service broadcaster Team "ORF". Both parties want to raise awareness for the peoples needs, issues and challenges in Paterson, South Africa. We all wanted to portray the joy, opportunity and power this sport has in both countries and for all people. Football is giving Patersons children the chance to be determined and focus on discipline, education and teamwork. Due to the sport they are more passionate about something that improves their health and communication skills rather than their violence.
As part of this charity game and due to the generous donations Lighthouse of Paterson is able to provide more health improving measures (which we will disclose in the next post).

SUCCESFULL PROJECT
DONATIONS FROM FC HILL
Together with the Austrian football club "FC Hill" we pulled together a charity football match which took place last year in September. Due to the generous donations FC Hill visited us past January and brought us sport supplies such as jerseys, balls and shoes.
They made a dream come true. Now Lighthouse of Paterson is able to enroll it's sport's team to local competition and keep the children balanced and focused on staying out of trouble. Apart from that it ensures a healthier lifestyle for the children because of our practice schedule which consists of at least three practices a week. Due to the fact that there are no sports lessons in school, Lighthouse saw it's duty to step in to give the kids the opportunity to get some exercise.

Time is TBDPatersonThe dung is cleared out, the walls are getting painted and we the roof over our heads is getting finished as we write this. The Lighthouse headquarter is assuming a form - slow but steady!

Now Ivannitha and Leilani have the chance to participate in nursing courses to support the community with their soon mastered skills.
