OUR VISION
Our goal is to make Paterson a healthier and safer place for further generations to live at.
Our current situation looks like this:
Children playing barefoot in the trash, no water for days and no health care reachable within 1 hour. The crime rate is tremendous and the amount of children dropping out of school at the age of 12 is increasing.
Lighthouse of Paterson want to motivate the kids to go to school rather than joining violent gang and show them opportunities through education and sports.
WHAT WE DO
With an AIDS & HIV campaign, lectures about drug and alcohol abuse as well as with environment protection projects we are trying to educate Paterson's youth. In addition to that, we compiled rugby, soccer and athletic teams to keep the children active, balanced and focused. We want to create the environment and the opportunities every child deserves for a brighter future.
OUR STORY
Lighthouse of Paterson came to live 2 years ago. The founders Kelvin Kamp, Ebin Tamboer, Abraham Kock and former founder Cliffort .... approached volunteers from Amakhala, Game Reserve on Mandela day.
We sat together every evening the next week and talked about how the health and school systems all over Europe work. We noticed the mager difference between South Africa and especially Austria, and realized the urgent need for change in this little town.
The idea behind the Lighthouse-symbol was something people can look up to, something that sheds light in the darkness and something they can orientate themselves towards.
WITH COMBINED FORCES
It is very crucial for us to work together with goverment entities. Through the support of the police and the fire department we are able to achieve our goals and communicate safety to the community.
We can always count on Paterson's fire brigade and Paterson's local police appreciates the effort we put into this little town and always attends our enlightenment events.
Our common goal is to change Paterson, make it a more livable and safer place and together we can make a change.
